핵심 정리

원급 비교는 두 대상의 정도가 같다는 뜻입니다.

구조: as + 형용사/부사 원급 + as

형태 뜻 예문
as ~ as ~만큼 ~하다 He is as tall as me.
not as ~ as ~만큼 ~하지 않다 He is not as tall as me.
not so ~ as ~만큼 ~하지 않다 It's not so hot as yesterday.

1. 기본 원칙

as와 as 사이에는 형용사나 부사의 원형을 씁니다.

품사 예문
형용사 She is as busy as I am.
부사 He runs as fast as a car.
명사 수식 I have as many books as you.

as 뒤의 형태

비교 대상 맞추기

같은 종류끼리 비교합니다.

  • My car is as fast as yours. (your car)
  • The weather here is as hot as that in Busan.

2. 명사를 함께 쓰는 경우

as many + 복수명사 + as as many books as you 너만큼 많은 책
as much + 불가산명사 + as as much money as you 너만큼 많은 돈
as + 형용사 + a + 명사 + as as good a player as Tom Tom만큼 좋은 선수

동사를 비교할 때

  • She works as hard as I do.
  • I don't eat as much as you do.

3. 원급 비교 표현

as ~ as possible 가능한 한 ~하게 Come as soon as possible.
as ~ as one can 가능한 한 ~하게 Run as fast as you can.
as soon as ~하자마자 Call me as soon as you arrive.
as long as ~하는 한 As long as you're happy, I'm fine.
as far as ~하는 한 As far as I know, he's away.
as well as ~뿐만 아니라 She speaks French as well as English.
as many as ~나 되는 As many as 500 people came.
as much as ~나 되는 It cost as much as $100.
not so much A as B A라기보다 B He is not so much a singer as an actor.
as usual 평소처럼 He was late as usual.

4. 배수 표현

구조 예문 뜻
배수사 + as ~ as This is twice as big as that. 이것은 저것의 두 배 크기다.
half as ~ as It's half as long as that. 이것은 저것의 절반 길이다.
분수 + as ~ as It's a third as heavy as that. 이것은 저것의 3분의 1 무게다.

5. 같다, 비슷하다는 표현

부정 주어와 함께 쓰면 가장 ~하다는 뜻입니다.

  • No other student is as smart as Tom. (Tom이 가장 똑똑하다.)
  • Nothing is as important as health. (건강이 가장 중요하다.)

어려운 예문

As many as 1,000 workers lost their jobs last year. 작년에 1,000명이나 되는 노동자가 일자리를 잃었다.
The new model consumes only half as much energy as the old one. 새 모델은 이전 모델의 절반만 에너지를 소비한다.
Nothing is as valuable as the trust of your customers. 고객의 신뢰만큼 소중한 것은 없다.

틀린 문장 맞는 문장 이유
He is as taller as me. He is as tall as me. 원급을 씁니다.
I have as many money as you. I have as much money as you. money는 불가산명사입니다.
She runs as quick as him. She runs as quickly as him. 동사를 꾸미면 부사를 씁니다.
Mine is the same with yours. Mine is the same as yours. the same as입니다.
Her hair is as long as me. Her hair is as long as mine. 같은 종류를 비교합니다.
I'll call you as possible as soon. I'll call you as soon as possible. 어순이 정해져 있습니다.

뜻 차이·권장 표현

This is two times as big as that. This is twice as big as that. 사용 빈도 차이 twice가 간결하지만 two times도 문법적으로 가능합니다.
